Rural Broadband

Providing broadband to rural communities cost effectively has proved a challenge over many years and still remains of primary concern to the Government and local authorities in rural areas.

Wireless communications offer an ideal solution where it is not cost effective to deliver fibre and where other fixed line services are poor due to the distance from the exchange.

Through our partners, UK Broadband already supports broadband solutions that meet or exceed the Government's Universal Service Commitment aspirations of 2Mbps for "not spots" and rural areas where broadband is currently unobtainable. In 2012 we will be able to offer "super fast" speeds in rural areas too.
